Sept. 29, 2021 - The North Central College men's soccer team won their 11th consecutive game as they took down the Big Blue of Millikin University 2-0 on a beautiful Wednesday night inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Cardinal offense didn't take long to get started as Sam Abreu finished off a cross from Dane Richardson in the second minute to give the Cardinals an early lead. The Cardinal offense would strike again just 16 minutes later as Richardson sent another cross to Jaziel Enriquez to put the Cardinals up by two.

In the second half the Cardinals were in hopes of finding the back of the net once again and in the 76th minute Richardson had an opportunity to put the Cardinals up by three. Richardson sent a strike just out of the reach of Millikin's goalkeeper Jon Kuebler but his shot hit the crossbar and went out of play.

The Cardinals had an opportunity once again in the 78th minute as Herman Hesby sent a shot on net that looked just out of the reach of Kuebler but Kuebler made an acrobatic save to keep the lead to two.

The Cardinals defense was on point once again as they only allowed three shots on goal which were all handled by goalkeeper Sid Marquardt. Marquardt has improved his record to 8-0-1 earning his eighth shutout of the season. Marquardt is currently tied with Marco Soto '19 for second on the season record list for shutouts.

The Cardinals (11-0-1, 1-0-1 CCIW) are back in action Saturday as they travel to Kenosha, Wis. to take on the Carthage College Firebirds. The match is set to start at 7:00pm inside Art Keller Field.
