NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 29, 2021) - Moving to 2-0 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action, the North Central College women's volleyball team downed Carroll University in straight sets on Wednesday night inside of Gregory Arena.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early 10-3 lead in the opening set of play. A service ace from
Trinity Evans gave the Cardinals momentum before
Katie Little's third kill of the set knotted the score at 17. With the Pioneers needing just one more point to win the first set,
Isabelle Guerrero brought North Central within one, 24-23. The Cardinals won four of the next five points to complete the comeback and win the first set, 27-25.
Keeping the momentum on their side, a kill from Guerrero sparked an 11-1 run for North Central to give them a 16-7 advantage in set two. Following back-and-forth action,
Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt sent home her first kill of the set to push the Cardinal lead to five, 19-14. Despite Carroll's best efforts, North Central held off the Pioneers to win the second set 25-21. In what would be the third and final set, a kill from Boelter-Eberhardt gave North Central a 3-0 lead early on.
