Stevens Point, Wis. (Jan. 24, 2022) - Wrestling in their final dual of the season, the North Central College women's wrestling team took down No. 10 ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP), 38-4 inside the Multi-Activity Center tonight.
UWSP jumped out to a 3-0 lead after Brooke Thurber defeated Kate Cacho by a 8-0 decision before Sydney Petzinger would win by forfeit putting the Cardinals up 5-3. In the 116-pound weight class, Kendra Ryan would defeat Abby Nelson by a 10-0 technical fall before Amani Jones would beat Morgan Bethea by a 10-0 technical fall. Yele Aycock would receive a win by forfeit in the 130-pound weight class before Sara Sulejmani would pin Addison Young. In the 143-pound weight class, Kim Nunez would defeat Megan Struble by a 15-4 technical fall giving the Cardinals a commanding lead going into the final three matches. Tiera Jimerson would receive a win by forfeit in the 155-pound weight class before Yelena Makoyed would defeat Jade Herzer by a 10-0 technical fall. The 191-pound weight class would include a double forfeit giving the Cardinals a 38-4 win over UWSP.
In exhibition matches, Elizah Leonard would pin Kelly Enriquez in the first period before Dakota Drew would defeat Olivia Hollenbeck by a 10-0 technical fall.
The Cardinals are back in action on Feb. 5 as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the Grand View University Open.
