CCIW Release
Oct. 10, 2022 - Posting a new career-high of 52 assists in a single match on Wednesday,
Maddi Barickman of the North Central College women's volleyball team earned Setter/Libero/Defensive CCIW Player of the Week while teammate
Aidan Brown was named the conference's offensive player of the week for the second straight week.
Barickman's 52 assists in the Cardinals' 3-2 win over Illinois Wesleyan University, set a new benchmark as the most assists for a single match in the conference this season. On the week, she tallied 134 assists over her 12 sets played. Barickman was the only player in the CCIW to record triple-digit assists and a double-digit average for assists per set (11.17) for the week. Barickman registered eight service aces on the week, also the most in the CCIW.
Brown had 46 kills (.307 hitting percentage) over North Central's 12 sets played, as she extended her streak of double-digit kills to five matches in a row. Her 19 kills against the Titans are the second most by a Cardinal this season, only behind her 22 kills early in the year.
This marks Barickman's first career player of the week honor while it is Brown's second straight week winning the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week award. Barickman becomes the 21st player in program history to earn a weekly award with Brown becoming one of six to earn multiple awards.
The Cardinals (11-4, 4-1 CCIW) continue non-conference play as they take on Concordia University Chicago (7-11, 2-5 Midwest Conference) on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. inside of Geiseman Gymnasium.
