Nov. 1, 2022 - Kicking off their 2022-23 campaign at home, the North Central College women's wrestling team soared past the Aurora University Spartans 49-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Residence Hall/Recreation Center.

The Cardinals found themselves up 10-0 early as Amber Turner (101 pounds) and No. 1 Sydney Petzinger (109 pounds) both received wins by Forfeit. At 116-pounds, No. 2 Jaslynn Gallegos pinned Natalie Gonzalez before No. 3 Amani Jones (123-pounds) would defeat Maya Gomez by a 10-0 Technical fall to give the Cardinals a 19-0 lead. At 130-pounds, Sara Sterner would pin Alexis Janiak before Yele Aycock (136-pounds) would pick up the Cardinals third pin of the night to extend their lead to 29-0. Salome Walker (143-pounds), No. 4 Tiera Jimerson (155-pounds), No. 1 Yelena Makoyed (170-pounds) and Alondra Aguayo (191-pounds) all received wins by Forfeit, giving the Cardinals a 49-0 win. The Cardinals did not allow a single point in all ten matches and this is their first shutout win since Dec. 19, 2021 where they beat Dixie State University 48-0. 

In exhibition matches, Amaya Yoshizumi Dakota Drew, and Charlene Bahnfleth all earned victories in their respective weight classes. 

The Cardinals will head to Stevens Point, Wis. to compete at the Pointer open on Saturday, Nov. 5. The action is set to start at 9 am inside the Multi-Activity Center.
