Nov. 23, 2022 - Wrestling for the first time inside Gregory Arena this season, the No. 1-ranked North Central College women's wrestling team extended their winning streak to nine as they extinguished the Carthage College Firebirds 45-0 on Wednesday night. 

The Cardinals found themselves with an early 5-0 lead as Amber Turner won by forfeit in the 101-pound bout. In the first true match of the night, Trinity Malave (109) put the Cardinals up by nine as she defeated Bentley Hills by a 10-0 technical fall. In the 116-pound bout, Amaya Yoshizumi added four more points for the Cardinals as she defeated Natalie Majer by a 10-0 technical fall. Dakota Drew (123) put the Cardinals up by 17 as she picked up the Cardinals third technical fall of the night, defeating Jennifer Villagomez 10-0. In the 130-pound match, Halle White would face Kaije Youngstrom, White would defeat Youngstrom by a 10-0 technical fall to put the Cardinals up 21-0 with five matches remaining. Yele Aycock, the No. 1-ranked wrestler in 136-pounds, would pick up her fourth pin of the season as she defeated Nadia Flores to add five more points to the Cardinals lead. Kendall Bostelman, the fourth-ranked wrestler in 143-pounds, would give the Cardinals a commanding 30-0 lead as she defeated Adele Senzig by a 10-0 technical fall. The Cardinals would add 15 more points as Shelby Ottum (155), Malea Palahniuk (170) and Traeh Haynes (191) would all receive wins by forfeit, giving the Cardinals a 45-0 win. 

The top-ranked Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 3 as they travel to La Crosse, Wis. to take on fifth-ranked Augsburg University. The action is set to start at 1:30 pm inside Mitchell Hall on the campus of UW-La Crosse.
