2022 United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division III Men's All-Region Teams

Nov. 29, 2022 - For the second consecutive year, the North Central College men's soccer team saw multiple student-athletes on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team as Matteo Innocenti, Johnny Kraemer and Aidan Westerberg were selected to the first-team while Jacopo De Collibus and Sid Marquardt were third-team honorees, the organization announced Tuesday.

The Cardinals have had 13 players selected to the All-Region Teams since 2005 and this marks a program record for selections in a single season.

Innocenti, a Freshman midfielder from Rome, Italy, adds to his already impressive resume with the Cardinals. Innocenti ranked second in goals (7) and tied for first in assists (5) while playing in 20 games for the Cardinals this season. Innocenti was named a first-team All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) selection while being named the CCIW Newcomer of the Year.

Kraemer, a Senior defender from Oswego, Ill, picked up his second-straight first-team All-Region honor after anchoring the Cardinal defense that only allowed 21 goals and 0.95 goals per game this season. Kramer scored three goals this season and six points while going 2-4 on penalty kicks. Kraemer was a 2021 All-CCIW and All-Region first-team selection.

Westerberg, a Junior midfielder from Belvidere, Ill, received his first All-Region honor after an outstanding year for the Cardinals. Westerberg led the Cardinals with ten goals and five assists which were both a team high.  He tallied a career high two goals and four points in the Cardinals 3-0 win over Elmhurst University on Sept. 24. Westerberg was named a first-team All-CCIW selection and was honored as the CCIW Offensive Player of the Year.

De Collibus, a Freshman midfielder from Novara, Italy, played in  21 games for the Cardinals this season while starting 20 of them. He ranked sixth in goals (3) and fifth in assists (2) this season for the Cardinals while recording eight points. De Collibus was a first-team All-CCIW selection and picked up third-team All-Region honors.

Marquardt, a Sophomore goalkeeper from Harland, Wis, found himself on the All-Region team for the second consecutive year as he was a first-team selection in 2021. Marquardt posted a 16-1-3 record this season with a .765 save percentage while tallying 62 saves. He recorded seven shutouts this season which ranks fourth in program history. He broke the career shutout record with 19 total shutouts which was previously held by Craig Knabel. Marquardt was a first-team All-CCIW selection and was named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year.

The Cardinals finished their season with a 17-1-4 record while claiming their first CCIW Regular Season Championship since 1994 and their second consecutive CCIW Tournament Championship. North Central hosted and won their first NCAA Tournament game with a 3-2 comeback win over UW-Superior and advanced to the Round of 32 for the first time in program history.
