2022 United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division III Men's All-America Team

Nov. 30, 2022 - After being named a first-team All-Region selection by United Soccer Coaches' on Tuesday, Aidan Westerberg of the North Central College men's soccer team was selected to the United Soccer Coaches' All-America third-team, the organization announced Wednesday. 

Westerberg is the third Cardinal to be selected to the United Soccer Coaches' All-America team as Johnny Kraemer and Sid Marquardt were selected to the first and second teams in 2021. Westerberg, a first-team All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) and Offensive Player of the Year, received his first All-America accolade after an impressive year on the pitch for the Cardinals. 

Westerberg, a Belvidere native, led the Cardinals in goals (10), assists (5) and points (25) this season while scoring a league high seven goals in CCIW play. Westerberg led an explosive Cardinal offense that scored 54 goals and averaged 2.45 goals per game. He scored a career high two goals and four points in the Cardinals 3-0 win over Elmhurst University while scoring a goal in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament which helped the Cardinals defeat UW-Superior 3-2 to advance to the Round of 32 for the first time in program history. 

This year's All-Americans will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

North Central finished their season with a 17-1-4 record while being ranked tenth, the highest ranking in program history. The Cardinals won their first CCIW Regular Season Championship for the first time since 1994 while winning their second-straight CCIW Tournament title.
