ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Dec. 15, 2022) - Traveling to Rock Island to clash with Augustana College, the fifth-ranked North Central College men's wrestling team dominated the Vikings with a 31-9 win and extended their record to 5-1 for the year.
 
The Cardinals (5-1) kicked off the dual with a 6-0 lead after Julian Valtierrez pinned Jack Reina in the first round. Robert Precin and Bradley Rosen would both finish their opponents by major decision to put the Cards up 14-0. Javen Estrada and Colin Mojena would win by technical fall over Alex Cruz and Chase Clark. Cole Cervantes won by a 13-11 decision over Jack Patting.
 
In the 174-pound match, Joey Jens would lose in overtime to A.J. Joyner. Payton Geigner would be the last Cardinal to put points on the board with a 11-2 major decision win over Clay Debaillie and give the Cards a 31-3 lead. Rickie Clark and Robby Bates would both lose their matches by decision.
 
 
In the extra matches, Josh Robinson (133) won by major decision over J.T. Williams. Jamaal Salary and Casey Aikman would end up pinning Augustana's Dominic Myers-Foster and Ray Herd in the first round. 
 
The fifth-ranked Cardinals are back in action on Jan. 6 as they travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the NWCA National Duals. The first whistle is set for 10 am inside the Kentucky Exposition Center.
