Dec. 20, 2022 - For the third consecutive week, the North Central College women's wrestling team was honored by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) as Junior Alondra Aguayo was named CCIW wrestler of the week for the first time in her career. 

Aguayo, a Junior from Wheeling, Ill., helped the Cardinals pick up their 11th win of the season she pinned Angie Guy to propel the Cardinals past Augustana College 45-0 on Dec. 15. Aguayo has posted a 10-6 record this season while being a perfect 4-0 in duals this season. She has placed fifth at the Adrian and Pointer Opens this season. 

Aguayo is the fifth wrestler to be named wrestler of the week as Yelena Makoyed, Amani Jones, Sydney Petzinger and Yele Aycock have all been honored this season. 

Aguayo and the second-ranked Cardinals are back in action on Friday Dec. 30 as they travel Hoffman Estates, Ill. to compete in the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships. The tournament kicks off at 11 am inside the NOW Arena.
