Dec. 3, 2022 - The North Central College men's basketball team absorbed its first loss in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play Saturday, falling behind early and trailing throughout a 90-56 setback to North Park University at Gregory Arena.

The Cardinals (4-3, 1-1 CCIW) turned the ball over five times in the first seven minutes as North Park's full-court pressure defense helped it build an early 20-9 advantage. The Vikings (6-1, 2-0) led by a 41-26 count at halftime and were not threatened in the second period.

Matt Helwig and Ethan Helwig shared team-high scoring honors for North Central with 14 points apiece while John Blumeyer totaled seven points and four assists.

North Central travels to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Tuesday for a non-conference matchup with the Pioneers (4-4). Tipoff at Williams Fieldhouse is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
