Dec. 6, 2022 - Amani Jones of the North Central College women's wrestling team was honored as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week after taking down a ranked opponent in the Cardinals 34-9 win over fifth-ranked Augsburg University. 

Jones, a Sophomore from Locust Grove, Ga, pinned Gabby Skidmore of Augsburg University, the seventh-ranked wrestler in 123-pounds, helping the Cardinals improve to 10-0 on the season. Jones, the fifth-ranked wrestler in 123-pounds, has posted a 11-2 record while having six technical falls this season. Jones finished first at the Pointer Open defeating Skidmore by a 6-2 decision to take home the 123-pound crown while finishing second at the Adrian Open on Nov. 13. 

Jones is the third Cardinal to receive this honor as Yele Aycock and Sydney Petzinger were selected in back-to-back weeks on Nov. 6 & Nov. 13. 

Jones and the No. 1-ranked Cardinals prepare to host the third annual North Central College Women's Open on Sunday, Dec. 11. The action is set to start at 9 am inside the Residence Hall/Recreation Center.
