College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Teams

Dec. 7, 2022 - Aidan Westerberg of the North Central College men's soccer team was selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2022 NCAA Division III Academic All-America First-Team following an impressive season on the field and in the classroom for the Cardinals. 

This is Westerberg's second time on the Academic All-America team as he was a Third-Team selection in 2021. He is one of 34 student-athletes in NCAA Division III to be selected to the All-America Teams while being one of five student-athletes to be selected in back-to-back years. The Division III All-America team posted a 3.89 average GPA while the first-team boasted a 3.93 GPA. 

Westerberg, a Belvidere native, posted a 3.98 GPA as a Biochemistry major while being named to the CSC Academic All-District First-Team. Westerberg scored a team high ten goals while dishing out five assists this season which led him to be the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Year and a First-Team All-CCIW selection. Westerberg was also named a First-Team All-Region and Third-Team All-America selection by the United Soccer Coaches'. 

North Central finished their season with a 17-1-4 record while being ranked tenth, the highest ranking in program history. The Cardinals won their first CCIW Regular Season Championship for the first time since 1994 while winning their second-straight CCIW Tournament title.
