PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (March 17, 2022) - Closing out their spring break trip by taking on The College of Wooster, the North Central College baseball team fell 18-2 to the Fighting Scots on Thursday afternoon in the Snowbird Baseball Classic.

Wooster jumped in front early by registering four runs in the top half of the first. Michael Patterson, Dom Listi, and Luke Lehnen all reached base to open the bottom half of the inning. With the bases loaded, Paul Beverly took advantage of a Fighting Scot error which allowed Patterson and Listi to score.

Adding onto their lead in the second inning, Ben Hines hit a solo shot to left field. North Central tried to answer in the bottom half, but with runners on first and third, the Cardinals made the third out on the base path to end the inning.

Luke Lamm struck out two in the third before Lehnen doubled to kick off the bottom half of the inning, but his attempt to stretch it into a triple did not pay off as he was thrown out at third base. After Jared Wojcik walked, he moved into scoring position on a Wooster error, but North Central could not capitalize and remain down, 5-2.

The Fighting Scots tacked on two more runs in the fourth. Both teams were held scoreless in the fifth and sixth until Wooster put together a seven-run seventh inning and a four-run ninth. North Central did not get a runner past second base past the fifth inning as Wooster cruised to an 18-2 win.

Patterson and Listi each went 2-for-4 on the day with a run scored. Lamm took his second loss of the season as he went 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits, seven runs, and struck out five. Robert Deischer pitched 2.1 innings and allowed no runs for his fifth straight scoreless appearance.

Mitchell Reardon earned the win for Wooster. He threw six innings, giving up two runs on five hits, and struck out five. Dane Camphausen drove in five runs for the Fighting Scots while scoring a run as well.

North Central returns home to Illinois as they take on the Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday. The doubleheader is set to begin at 12 PM at Ed Glancy Field in Chicago. You can find links to live video/stats of those games HERE.
