Apr. 13, 2022 - On a cold and rainy night in Naperville, the North Central College women's lacrosse rained down a slew of goals en route to their 15-4 win over the Augustana College Vikings inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Cardinals (3-9, 1-1 CCIW) came into tonight's contest with a five game losing streak but looked to take down the Vikings (4-6, 0-2 CCIW) despite the weather conditions. The Cardinals opened the game up with a three goal run started by Tanya Czosek giving them a comfortable lead 3-0 with just nine minutes remaining in the first quarter. After a Vikings goal,  Lucy Culig would split through the defense and score, putting the Cardinals up 4-1. The Cardinals would not let up as they went on another three goal stretch to end the quarter giving them a commanding 8-1 lead heading into the second quarter.

Culig would keep the streak going in the second quarter as they scored off an assist from Abbey Triebe, putting the Cardinals up by seven. Czosek would tally her second goal of the game with just under 12 minutes remaining off an assist from Reese McMullen before Triebe would put the Cardinals up nine off an assist from Mary Pinkowski. Just ten second later, Czosek would tally her third goal of the game extending the Cardinal lead to ten. After another Vikings goal, Julia Clarke would put the Cardinals up by ten once again with 40 seconds left, giving the Cardinals a 12-2 lead heading into halftime.

The Vikings would get on the board first in the second half but the Cardinal offense kept the pressure on as Triebe scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Czosek keeping a ten goal lead. After a Vikings turnover near the front net, Berit Vandenbroucke would score on an empty net putting the Cardinals up 14-3 with ten minutes to play. Raygn Jordan would put the game away as she scooped up a ground ball and went the length of the field and put one past the Vikings goalkeeper giving the Cardinals a 15-4 win.

Czosek and Clarke led the team with three goals each while Czosek had one assist and four points on the night. Triebe, Culig and Vandenbroucke each had two goals while Pinkowski had five caused turnovers and Simona Hudakova had a team high nine ground balls. Abigail Widd tallied ten saves in net as she improved her record to 3-9 on the season.

The Cardinals are back in action Saturday as they travel to Bloomington, Ill. to take on the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan University in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup. The contest is set to start at 11 am inside Tucci Stadium.
