Men’s Lacrosse Treks Past Pioneers, 22-6

WAUKESHA, Wis. (Apr. 20, 2022) - The North Central College men's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to two games as they took down the Carroll University Pioneers 22-6 with the help of 16 different players scoring in the contest. 

The Cardinals (6-6, 2-2 CCIW) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Tom Eberhardt opened up the game with his 35th goal of the season just four minutes into the game. Anthony Zowin would tally the Cardinals second goal of the game off a Nick Rubino assist which would ignite a six goal stretch to end the first quarter. The Cardinals would get the upper hand early in the second quarter as Grant Buelow scored his first career goal off an assist from Tom Eberhardt to put the Cardinals up 9-0. After a Pioneer's goal, the Cardinals would  go on another six goal run which was started by Shane Todd who scored off an assist from Evan Lilga. Dylan Mlinarich would score with just under two minutes remaining giving the Cardinals a 16-2 lead heading into halftime. 

The Pioneers came out firing in the second half as they rattled off four unanswered goals before Jack Moran would score off an assist from Zowin and give the Cardinals a 17-6 lead heading into the final quarter of play. The Cardinals would finish the game with a five goal stretch which ended with a Jackson Biltz goal with three seconds remaining, giving the Cardinals a 22-6 lead over the Pioneers. 

Eberhardt led the team with three goals while Zowin, Moran, Todd and Biltz each had two goals. Biltz led the team with three assists and five points while Lilga led the team with three caused turnovers. Evan Watanabe and Zach Kuyava each had double digit ground balls while Aidan Murphy and Jack Senese split time in net for the Cardinals tallying one save. 

The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Kenosha, Wis. to take on the Firebirds of Carthage College in another College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup. The opening face-off is set for 1 pm inside Art Keller Field.
