WAUKESHA, Wis. (Apr. 20, 2022) - Taking a trip up north to Waukesha, Wis, the North Central College women's lacrosse team dropped their second consecutive game as they fell to the Carroll University Pioneers 14-8 inside Schneider Stadium.

The Cardinals (3-11, 1-3 CCIW) found themselves down 1-0 early as the Pioneers got on the scoreboard just two minutes into the game but after a Pioneer foul, Lucy Culig would be rewarded with a free position shot. Culig would put one past the Pioneers goalkeeper to tie the game at one. However, the Pioneers would go on a two goal run to end the first quarter. The Pioneers would extend their lead in the second quarter as they scored three quick goals to extend their lead to five with ten minutes remaining in the quarter. The Cardinals would respond as Tanya Czosek started a three goal run cutting the Pioneer lead to two with 43 seconds remaining in the half. The Pioneers would score with 26 seconds left in the half to extend their lead to three heading into halftime.

The second half started just like the first half as the Pioneer's extended their lead to four before Berit Vandenbroucke and Abbey Triebe tallied two quick goals to cut the lead to two once again. However, the Pioneer's would go on another three goal run to put them up 11-6 with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. Triebe would score as time was expiring to put the Cardinals down 11-7 heading into the final quarter of play. Both offenses were quiet in the fourth quarter until the Pioneer's scored two unanswered goals with just under six minutes remaining to extend their lead to six. Triebe would tally her fourth goal of the game with just under two minutes remaining but it was not enough as the Pioneer's came out with a 14-8 win.

Triebe led the team with four goals while Vandenbroucke had two goals and Czosek and Culig each had one goal. Tori Leonard led the team with five caused turnovers and eight ground balls while Abigail Widd tallied 13 saves as she fell to 3-11 on the season.

The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday as they host Elmhurst University at 11 am inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium for Senior Day.
