Apr. 25, 2022 -Â North Central College athletic director
Jim Miller '86 has announced the College's plans regarding the men's track and field and cross country programs respectively.
Current assistant men's cross country and track and field coach
Matt Sinnott '03 will serve as the Cardinals' interim head coach for cross country for the 2022-2023 academic year and the College will begin a national search for its next head men's track and field coach this summer.
"I'm confident in our plan," Miller said. "Our student-athletes have a lot of trust in Coach Sinnott and he provides an important element of continuity with the start of the cross country season only four months away. We'll also continue to lean on his expertise in administration and recruiting."
A member of the Cardinals' coaching staff since 2013, Sinnott was a four-year member of North Central's cross country and track and field programs before graduating with a degree in physics.
Sinnott coached at West Aurora High School for 10 years, achieving two top-16 team finishes at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Cross Country Championships. Sinnott holds a USA Track & Field (USATF) Level 3 coaching certification in endurance along with numerous event certificates in track and field.
Earlier this spring,
Frank Gramarosso announced his plans to retire on June 30, completing a remarkable 39-year coaching career. He currently holds the positions of head men's cross country and track and field coach.
The College plans to officially open the search in early May.
North Central competes in the Drake Relays and the Elmhurst University Invitational this weekend.
