WAUKESHA, Wis. (Apr. 6, 2022) - Falling victim to a pair of early scoring rallies, the North Central College softball team was beaten twice in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play Wednesday at Carroll University, 5-2 and 9-2.

The Cardinals (8-4, 2-2 CCIW) were left trailing after Carroll scored three runs on four hits in the second inning of the opener. The Pioneers tacked on two more runs in the sixth before North Central got on the board in the seventh with a run-scoring single by Alexa Sherlund before Kylie Ryza scored on a fielder's choice.

Infielder Alyssa Sturino went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and a run scored for the Cardinals.

Carroll (10-4, 2-0) opened the nightcap with three runs in the first inning. The Cardinals got a two-run triple from Jaime Smith in the bottom of the first but were held in check the rest of the way. Smith went 2 for 3 from the plate in the game.

North Central hosts No. 20-ranked Millikin University (20-2, 2-0) Saturday. The first of two games will begin at 1:00 p.m.
