STEVENS POINT, Wis. (May 21, 2022) - In a battle of the top two teams in the regional, the North Central College baseball team flew past UW-Stevens Point, 8-2 behind seven scoreless innings from starter Luke Lamm and home runs from both Jack Oberli and Justin Rios on Saturday afternoon at Zimmermann Field.

Lamm was dialed in early on as he struck out five Pointers over the first four innings of play. In the fifth, Dom Listi reached base on a hit by pitch with two outs before Luke Lehnen drew a walk to move Listi into scoring position. With a 1-1 count, Rios hit an RBI single to left field as Listi came around to score the game's first run.

Following another scoreless frame from Lamm, Jared Wojcik drew one of his four walks to lead off the sixth. Trey Roach was hit by a pitch and Michael Davis moved both Wojcik and Roach up a base on a fielder's choice. Continuing his hot stretch, Oberli launched a three-run home run over the left field fence to put the Cardinals ahead, 4-0.

Lamm went three up and three down in the bottom of the sixth before Rios belted his third home run of the season. Roach, Davis, and Oberli all reached to load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Joe Hamilton came up with a clutch RBI single to left field. Listi followed that up by reaching on a UWSP error, as Oberli and Davis came around to score, pushing North Central's lead to 8-0.

The Pointers scored their first run of the game in the eighth and added another in the ninth, but CJ Jensik closed the door to give the Cardinals an 8-2 win over the Pointers.

Lamm picked up his eighth win of the year and finished the day with eight strikeouts, just four hits, one walk, and no runs over his seven innings pitched. Rios, Roach, and Hamilton each tallied two hits apiece while Oberli drove in three runs on the day.

With the win, the Cardinals are the lone unbeaten team left in the regional and will need to be defeated twice in tomorrow's championship,
set for tomorrow at 11 AM at Zimmermann Field. They will face the winner of this afternoon's UW-Stevens Point and Coe College elimination game.
