2021-22 College Team Academic Award Recipients

July 29, 2022 - The North Central College men's soccer team was named a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award recipient to honor their hard work in the classroom, the Organization released Thursday morning.

A total of 746 soccer teams (220 men, 382 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year. The Cardinals earned their 11th Team Academic Award after posting a 3.10 GPA this season.

On the field, the Cardinals had a very successful season, claiming their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament Championship and making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament following an 18-2-1 record. The 18 wins broke a school record for overall wins in a single season. The Cardinals only allowed a season record ten goals while posting 14 shutouts throughout the course of the 2021 season.

Joining North Central from the CCIW as United Soccer Coaches Team Academic award winners are Illinois Wesleyan University, Millikin University, North Park University and Wheaton College. North Central was a part of 130 other programs to have both their men's and women's programs earn this award.

The Cardinals kick off their 2022 campaign as they travel to Fond Du Lac, Wis. to take on the Sabres of Marian University. North Central took down the Sabres in their first ever meeting last season. To view the entire 2022 schedule, click HERE
