Cardinals Keep the streak alive at Spartan Classic

Geneva, Ill. (Sept. 10, 2022) – A sunny morning race at Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Park where North Central College men's cross country team kept their winning streak alive as it saw six of its student-athletes place in the top-10. The Cardinals turned in a low score of 19 points to place first at the Aurora University Spartan Classic on Saturday.
 

The first runner to complete the eight-kilometer course was North Central's Braden Nicholson in a time of twenty six minutes, and one point four seconds. Not far behind was Loras's Luke Guttormson (26:08.8) who placed second, Connor Riss (26:15.8) in third, Max Svienty (26:21.1) in fourth, and James McGlashon (26:23.3) in fifth. Matthew Jett (26:27.3) was next to cross the line in sixth-place, and Andrew Guimond (26:35.6) placed tenth which rounded out North Central's top ten placing first overall.
 

Despite the 248-person field, the Cardinals maintained two more packs in the front, placing a total of 8 Cardinals in the top-25.

Finishing in second place behind North Central was Loras College with 46 points, Heartland Community College placed third with 94 points, Lansing Community College in fourth with 119 points, and Millikin University placing fifth with 139 points. 

The Cardinals head to the Spartan Invitational on Sept. 16 hosted by Michigan State University.
