WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 17, 2022) – In a field featuring eight of the nine schools in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), the North Central College women's cross country team took advantage of the conference preview offered to them at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Ill.--the host course for the conference championship later this fall. The Cardinals took sixth overall out of 18 teams.
Nicole Brandy hoovered just behind the lead pack throughout the 6-kilometer course and was the first Cardinal to cross the finish line in a time of 23 minutes and 22.4 seconds finishing 24th. Miranda Baker was the next Cardinal across the line in a time of 23 minutes and 57.4 seconds to finish 39th. Julia Benes (24:06.3) was only a few spots behind Benes, finishing 45th.
Completing the Cardinals' top-seven was Julianne Billings (24:42.2) in 61st, Lauren Belvel (25:01.1) in 78th, Emmy Mussey (25:16.4) in 91st, and Hannah Kirby (25:54.5) in 112th.
The University of Chicago won the meet with 24 points followed by Washington University in second with 42 points, St. Francis in third with 102 points, Hope College 103 points in fourth, our host Wheaton College in fifth with 183 points, and North Central College to round out the top-six with 185 points.
North Central returns to competition on Oct. 1 in Geneva, Ill. for the Aurora University Invitational hosted by Aurora University.
