ELMHURST, Ill. (Sept. 2, 2022) – A cool, evening race at Eldridge Park proved victorious for the North Central College men's cross country team as it saw seven of its student-athletes place in the top-10. The Cardinals turned in a low score of 21 points to place first at the Elmhurst University Earlybird Invitational on Friday.

The first runner to complete the six-kilometer course was North Central's Nathan Halbrader in a time of nineteen minutes, and thirty-four point five seconds. Not far behind was Nigel Neibel (19:38.4) in second before a Moraine Valley's David Olmos (19:39.6) and Carthage College's Craig Hundley (19:42.5) broke up the Cardinal's sweep finishing in third and fourth respectively.

A pack of Cardinals was next across the line, led by Thomas Rohr (19:48.5) in fifth-place, Connor Riss (19:48.6) in sixth, James McGlashon (19:48.6) in seventh, and Max Svienty (19:48.6) in eighth. Jacob Kluckhohn (19:48.7) rounded out North Central's top seven placing ninth overall.

Despite the 118-person field, the Cardinals maintained two more packs in the front, placing a total of 15 Cardinals in the top-25.

Finishing in second place behind North Central was the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) foe, Carthage College with 53 points. Moraine Valley placed third with 109 points. The host team, Elmhurst University, placed fourth with 120 points, and Illinois Tech placed fifth with 132 points.
