NAPERVILLE Ill. (Sept. 30, 2022) - Exceeding their CCIW win total from a season ago, the North Central College women's volleyball flew past Carroll University in four sets on Friday night to improve to 3-1 in conference play.

A kill from Amber Vande Hei opened play with a kill followed by an Aliyah Valentine service ace. An Aidan Brown kill capped off a 6-1 run for the Cardinals. After the Pioneers run, North Central won the next six points on their way to a 25-15 set one victory. A Maddi Barickman service ace put the Cardinals on top 5-3 in set two. After back-and-forth action, a 10-1 rally pushed North Central to a 25-19 win in the second set. 

A Maddi Barickman kill tied the contest at 9-9. Sarah Elischer finished a 4-1 run to give North Central a 13-11 lead. Carroll responded with a 6-0 run to take a two point lead in the third set. Despite a 3-1 run from the Cardinals, the Pioneers scored the final two points to take the third set and forced a fourth set.

Looking to wrap up the match in four sets, North Central jumped out to a 5-1 lead in set four. A Taylor O'Malley ace pushed the Cardinals' lead to six, 9-3. An Emily Stallmann ace and a Brown kill gave North Central a 16-7 advantage before Kendra Battle pushed the Cardinals to a 10-point lead. Both teams traded points but a Brown kill finished off the match as North Central won 25-15 in the fourth set.

Brown tallied 19 kills to lead the Cardinals with Abbi Barickman posting 10. Stallmann recorded 19 digs while O'Malley sent home five aces. Maddi Barickman dished out 38 assists as the Cardinals hit .184 on the night.

North Central continues CCIW action on Wednesday as they travel to Bloomington to face Illinois Wesleyan University at 7 PM in the Shirk Center.
