Sept. 6, 2022 - The North Central College men's soccer team earned their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season as
Sid Marquardt was named Defensive Player of the Week, the Conference announced Tuesday.
Marquardt, a Junior goalkeeper from Hartland, Wis., helped the Cardinals start their season with two wins over Marian University and Kalamazoo College last week. Marquardt picked up his first shutout of the season on Sept. 1 as the Cardinals took down Marian 4-0, he tallied two saves on the Sabres two shots on net. Marquardt only faced two shots in their game against Kalamazoo, he made a critical save in the 75th minute to help secure a 2-1 win over Kalamazoo.
Marquardt currently holds a 3-0-0 record this season with two shutouts while tallying six saves. He is ranked 24th in all NCAA divisions and sixth in Division III for career shutouts (14). Marquardt is also ranked third in career goals against average in all NCAA divisions while leading Division III with a 0.444 goals against average. The Cardinals (3-0-0) are back in action on Wednesday Sept. 7 as they travel to Mequon, Wis to take on the Concordia University-Wisconsin (CUW) Falcons at 4 pm inside Fitting Field.
