CCIW Week 4 Student-Athletes of the Week

Oct. 2, 2023 -
North Central College quarterback Luke Lehnen has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for games played Sept. 30, earning the distinction for the second time in the last three weeks.

In the Cardinals' 54-35 victory at Wheaton College Saturday, Lehnen rushed for a career-high 170 yards and two touchdowns while completing 5 of 8 passes for 166 yards and one score. The junior's 78-yard touchdown run in the first period Saturday is North Central's longest play from scrimmage this season.

In four games, Lehnen has completed 41 of 55 passes (75 percent) for 787 yards and 11 touchdowns with no interceptions. The exercise science major ranks eighth in the CCIW in rushing yards (222) and now owns sole possession of the North Central program record for touchdown runs by a quarterback (27).

This week's selection gives the Cardinals (4-0, 3-0 CCIW) a Student-Athlete of the Week winner for the third consecutive week. Kicker Sean Ryniec received the conference's honor on special teams following a 59-6 victory over Elmhurst University and Lehnen was so honored after North Central's 70-0 win over Carthage College.

Still ranked No. 1 by D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), North Central hosts Carroll University (3-1, 2-1) Saturday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m. Click HERE for the full 2023 schedule and live coverage options.
