2023 Men's Soccer All-CCIW Teams
Oct. 27, 2023 - The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced their CCIW All-Conference Teams this morning. Five different members of the North Central College men's soccer program have been named to All-Conference Teams while
Davis Nelson was selected for CCIW Respect Award.
Sophomore,
Jacopo De Collibus earned his second straight First Team honors this season after being a major threat on the Cardinals' offense throughout the 2023 season. He tallied one goal and one assist against Illinois Wesleyan.
Midfielder,
Jack Fairwood has three goals throughout conference play, including the goal that tied North Park University 1-1 in the 82nd minute of the game. Last season Fairwood received Second Team honors.
Aidan Westerberg has been named to the All-CCIW First Team for the second year in a row, in 2020 he was named All-CCIW Second Team. Westerberg had six assists and three goals through conference play. He set a new program career assist record (20) and currently leads the conference in assists on the season (10).
De Collibus and Westerberg are two of three players, throughout the whole conference, who are repeat All-CCIW First Team choices from previous years.
Defender,
Edoardo Bonifacio received Second Team accolades after having a huge impact on the Cardinals' defense as well as scoring three goals in conference play. This is the second time the sophomore has been recognized, last season he was named All-CCIW First-Team.
Tommaso Polidori was the only freshman selected for All-CCIW accolades. He received the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award and was chosen for the All-CCIW Second Team. Polidori has tallied three goals and one assist in conference play this season. He led the offense to a win against Millikin University by scoring the Cardinals' first two goals. The defender has been a vital asset on the Cardinals' defense throughout the whole season.
Davis Nelson was named the CCIW Respect Award Recipient for North Central this year. Respect Award recipients distinguish themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The Respect Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture. This is Davis' second time earning the Respect Award as he won it in 2021 as a freshman.
The 5th-ranked Cardinals (15-1-2) will host the CCIW semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 1 as they are heading into the tournament as the No. 1 seed.
