Warrenville, Il. (Oct. 29th, 2023) – North Central College men's cross country team claimed first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) for the 49th straight time. The Cardinals also had 10 All-CCIW performers along with other awards. 
The Cardinals also continue their streak of having the individual champion, this time in Braden Nicholson who ran the 8,000 meter course in 24:24.6 having a pace of 4:54 per mile. He was followed closely by Max Svienty running 24:30.8 to claim second. The other scoring Cardinals are Connor Riss (24:33.3) for third, Drew Guimond (24:34.3) for fourth, and BJ Sorg (24:44.9) for sixth place and all were honored with All-CCIW First Team.  
Rounding out the Cardinals First Team selections are Matt Jeet, Jacob Kluckhohn, and James McGlashon. On the All-CCIW second team are Nathan Halbrader and Luke Hoffman.  
Nicholson also won CCIW Student-Athlete of the Meet for being the individual champion. BJ Sorg won the CCIW First Year Student-Athlete of the Meet. Max Svienty was also awarded the Elite 26 Award for his hard work in the classroom. Austin Emrath was the CCIW RESPECT award for his constant support of his teammates. Coach Matt Sinnott and the North Central College coaching staff as a whole was awarded the CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year. 
The Cardinals scored 16 points to win the CCIW title. Carthage College was the closest competitor in second scoring 80 points, Wheaton College scored 95 points for third, Millikin University scored 101 points for fourth, and in fifth is Augustana College with 113 points.  
The Cardinals continue the championship season on Nov. 11 as they compete in the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Championship in Waverly, Iowa.
