Nov. 14, 2023 - Kendra Ryan of the North Central College women's wrestling team has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Wrestler of the Week. This is the first time in Ryan's career she has been selected for this award.
 
Ryan, a junior from Fenton, Mich., posted a 8-0 record on the weekend. Her first three wins came on Saturday at the Adrian College Duals. Ryan defeated Kealonie Vega of No. 6 Gannon University with a 10-0 technical fall. She followed up in the second match against Indiana Tech with another 10-0 technical fall against Tehani Soares. Ryan finished the day against No. 3 McKendree University's Pauline Granados, defeating her with a 12-1 technical fall.
 
On Sunday at the Adrian Open, Ryan picked up her first win of the day by defeating Kayla Smith (University of Guelph) by a 12-0 technical fall. Ryan tallied her second technical fall of the day against Jesenia Camargo of Delawar Valley University (12-0). In her third match of the day Ryan defeated Allison Hancher (Indiana Tech) with a 10-0 technical fall. In the semifinal match, Ryan overtook Tehani Soares of Indiana Tech by a 10-0 technical fall. Ryan earned first in the 109-pound weight class after defeating Kaelani Shufeldt (Lock Haven) by a 5-0 decision.
 
Ryan and the Cardinals match-up against Carthage College for the team's first CCIW dual of the season tonight at 6 pm in Kenosha, Wis.
