2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams
Nov. 21, 2023 - The North Central College men's soccer team had six athletes named to the NCAA Division III College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
The awards, which recognize combined academic and athletic excellence, are nominated and voted upon by the CSC membership. This includes more than 3,000 members at higher education institutions in the United States and Canada.
Edoardo Bonifacio, a sophomore from Rome, Italy, earned a 3.66 GPA as a marketing major. Bonifacio played and started in all 20 games this season for the Cardinals. He scored six goals with one assist while being named to the All-CCIW Second Team.
Matteo Innocenti, a sophomore from Rome, Italy, earned a 3.62 GPA as an international business major. Innocenti played and started in 13 games for North Central. He scored seven goals with three assists this season.
Humberto Jaimes, a junior from Joliet, Ill., earned a 3.65 GPA as a management major. Jaimes played in 19 games for the Cardinals this season, starting in nine. He tallied one assist on the season in the 5-0 win against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Davis Nelson, a junior from Madison, Wis., earned a 3.96 GPA as an economics major. Nelson played in all 20 games, starting in 19. He tallied two assists on the season while helping anchor the Cardinals backline who only allowed 21 goals this season.
Jack Fairwood, a senior from Carpentersville, Ill., earned a 3.69 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. Fairwood started and played in all 20 games for North Central. He tallied five goals and four assists on the season, including the tying goal against North Park University. In October, he was named to the All-CCIW First Team. This is the second year in a row Fairwood has been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
Aidan Westerberg, a senior from Belvidere, Ill., earned a 3.95 GPA as a biochemistry major. Westerberg started and played in 19 games for the Cardinals. He led the team in goals (10) and assists (11). He was named to the All-CCIW First Team for the second year in a row. This is the third year in a row, Westerberg has been named to Academic All-District Team.
North Central finished their season with a 15-3-2 record while claiming the CCIW Regular Season Title and making it into the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year.
