CHICAGO (Nov. 26, 2023) - Playing their second ranked team of the season, the North Central College women's basketball team fell to No. 22 University of Chicago 92-45 on Sunday afternoon inside the Ratner Athletics Center.

Megan Duffy opened the scoring for the Cardinals with a layup before the Maroons took a 9-2 lead midway through the opening quarter. Josylin Simmons-Doxie forced a Chicago turnover and used the steal to get a fastbreak layup to bring North Central back within three, 11-8. Duffy knocked down a deep ball with 1:58 to go in the first quarter but a Maroon run gave them a 22-13 lead after 10 minutes of action.

Jocelyn Trotter scored a second chance bucket after an offensive rebound. Duffy hit another three-pointer before Chicago opened up a 29-point advantage. Jovanna Hartwig made a basket with one-minute to play in the half as the Maroons led 53-23 at the break.

Megan McClure and Kaeli Ford scored early in the third quarter before Trotter made a layup with 5:13 on the clock. Later in the fourth quarter, Molly Murray string together a quick five points before hitting her second three of the game down the stretch as the Maroons won 92-45 to improve to 6-0 while the Cardinals move to 3-3 on the season.

Duffy led the team with 11 points with Murray adding eight. Ford and Trotter tallied six points on the day. Trotter also grabbed eight rebounds in the contest. The Cardinals shot 27% from the field with the Maroons shooting 54%.

North Central opens up College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on Wednesday with a matchup at Carroll University. The game is set for 7 p.m. inside Van Male Fieldhouse.
