Nov. 7, 2023 - In the first installment of the 2023-24 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week Award, London Houston of the North Central College women's wrestling team was selected as the recipient for the first time in her collegiate career.
 
The junior from Fairway, Wash. was selected after her dominating performance at the Pointer Open last Saturday, Nov. 4. She finished the weekend in first place in the 155-pound weight class.
 
After a bye in the first round, Houston pinned Daniella Lopez of Northern Michigan University in a commanding 32 second fashion. She continued her success in the next two rounds, defeating Antonia Phillips of Aurora University with a 12-0 technical fall, followed by defeating teammate Tiera Jimerson with a 11-0 technical fall. Houston took home first place after a 4-4 decision over Nina Makem (Augsburg University).
 
Houston and the Cardinals are back in action Saturday, Nov. 11, when they travel to Adrian, Mich. for the Adrian College Duals inside the Merillat Center.
