2023 CSC Academic All-District Teams - Volleyball

Dec. 12, 2023 - Abbi Barickman and Maddi Barickman have been awarded the College Sports Communicator's Academic All-District honors in recognition of their high performance in the classroom and on the court. 

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 while either playing in 66% of the team's matches or having started 90% of the team's matches. This award honors the nation's top student-athletes for their academic and athletic excellence.

M. Barickman, a mechanical engineering major, ranked first on the team and the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin with 9.70 assists per set. She also led the Cardinals with 36 service aces and 236 digs. That performance earned her a First Team All-CCIW selection while being named the CCIW Setter of the Week three times during the season.

A. Barickman, also a mechanical engineering major, led North Central in kills with 323 and kills per set with 3.55. She also rallied 150 digs and 28 total blocks. A. Barickman was named to the Second Team All-CCIW list and was also named to the WashU Invite All-Tournament Team on the Cardinals' opening weekend.

Both Barickman's led a summer research project that focused on testing materials for potential use in alternate energy storage systems. The two hope to present their findings at a professional conference in the spring of 2024. The 2023 Academic All-America list will be released Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m.
