2023 United Soccer Coaches' Men's Soccer Scholar All-America Teams
 
Dec. 15, 2023 - Aidan Westerberg of the North Central College men's soccer team has been named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Men's Soccer Scholar All-American Third Team.
 
This is the second year Westerberg has been named to both the USC Scholar All-Region and Scholar All-American Teams. Only eight other Cardinals in program history have been named to a USC Scholar All-Region Team. This includes Westerberg's teammate Jack Fairwood who was named to the Second Team at the end of this season. However, Westerberg is first the Cardinal player to make a USC Scholar All-American Team twice in their career.
 
Westerberg, a Junior from Belvidere, Ill, has received multiple postseason accolades in his tremendous career as a Cardinal. In 2022, he was selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District First Team, as well as First Team USC Scholar All-Region and Scholar All-American teams. In 2021, he was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Elite 25 Award winner. Westerberg finished the 2023 season with a 3.95 GPA as a Biochemistry major.
 
On the field, Westerberg started in all 19 games for the Cardinals. He led the team in goals (10) and assists (11). Westerberg holds the record with the most career assists in program history (20). He surpassed Stan Mietus' (1986-1989) record of 19 career assists. Westerberg was named to the All-CCIW First Team for the second year in a row and the third year in a row he was named to the Academic All-District Team. In 2022, he was named the CCIW Offensive Player of the Year.
 
North Central finished their season with a 15-3-2 record while claiming the CCIW Regular Season Title and making it into the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year.
