AVCA Rankings

Feb. 28, 2023 - The North Central College men's volleyball team remains at No. 10 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Week Eight rankings after turning in a 2-0 week with wins over Trine University and Augustana College. The AVCA released its latest rankings on Tuesday.

The Cardinals have a 10-3, 1-0 CCIW record so far this season after taking down both Trine and Augustana in 3-0 sweeps last week. North Central currently ranks first in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), just ahead of Carthage College's 9-3, 1-0 CCIW record, both are undefeated in conference play heading into this week. 

North Central and Carthage are just two CCIW schools in the top 15 with the Cardinals coming in at No. 10 and the Firebirds sitting at No. 4. The top five rankings have stayed consistent from last week with Stevens (17-2) leading the ranks followed by Vassar (13-1), Juniata (15-2), Carthage (9-3), and Springfield (15-2). Messiah (15-2) and SUNY New Paltz (13-5) each moved up one spot to sixth and seventh, respectively, as St. John Fisher (13-5) dropped two spots to eighth. NYU (9-4) jumped to ninth, followed by North Central, Southern Virginia (6-2), Nazareth (14-4), UC Santa Cruz (15-5), Marymount (12-4), and Nichols College (10-3) to round out the top 15.

The Cardinals head to Bloomington, Illinois on Wednesday, March 1 for a conference match versus the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans. The contest is set for 7 p.m. inside the Shirk Center.
