Feb. 7, 2023 -  For the seventh time this season, the North Central College women's wrestling team was honored by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) as Salome Walker was named Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. 

Walker, a junior from Mishawaka, Ind., turned in a second place finish in the 136-pound weight class at the Bearcat Open on Feb. 5, winning two matches by decision and one by fall. Walker kicked off the tournament with a 7-6 decision win over Athena Willden of William Jewell before defeating JoLynn Harris of McKendree University by criteria. Walker would upset fifth-ranked Holly Beaudoin of Colorado Mesa in the semifinals, pinning Beaudoin in the second period to punch her ticket to the finals. 

Walker and the top-ranked Cardinals are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 19 as they host the the NCWWC Region Four Championships. The action is set to start at 10 am inside Gregory Arena.
