PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (Mar. 14, 2023) - Becoming the all-time wins leader in program history, North Central College pitcher Luke Lamm earned his 27th career win in Tuesday's 7-1 win over Babson College as the Cardinals improve to 8-2 on the year and 3-0 in the Snowbird Baseball Classic.

Following a scoreless first inning, John Michael Scumaci and Cole Gregorio singled to begin the bottom of the second. After back-to-back fielder's choices, Gregorio took advantage of a Beaver error and scored the game's first run. Dom Listi stepped up to the plate and delivered a single before Rob Marinec cleared the bases on a two-run single to left field.

Working with a 3-0 lead, Lamm struck out two batters in the top of the third. Babson used three singles in the fourth to plate their first run, but with a runner in scoring position, Lamm induced another strikeout to hold the Beaver to just a run.

In the bottom half of the fourth, Listi took a two-out walk. Marinec earned a free pass on a hit by pitch before Justin Rios singled to score Listi from second and extend the North Central lead, 4-1.

Lamm allowed only one hit for the rest of his outing as Gavin Gawronski replaced the senior in the top of the eighth inning. Despite the first two batters reaching base for Babson, Gawronski forced a double play to end the inning with no runs scored.

Joe Hamilton walked and advanced to second base in the bottom of the eighth. Listi began a two-out rally with an RBI single to score Hamilton. Listi came around to score on a Marinec triple before Rios singled to give the Cardinals a 7-1 advantage after eight innings of action.

Gawronksi held the Beavers scoreless in the top half of the ninth inning to earn his first collegiate save and secure a 7-1 win for North Central.

Listi scored three runs on three hits while Marinec drove in three runs for the game. Listi, Marinec, Rios, Lehnen, and Scumaci each recorded multiple hits on the day. Lamm struck out seven while allowing just one run as he moves to 2-2 on the year. Gawronksi tallied two punchouts in his two innings of work.

North Central takes on the College of Wooster (3-2) on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. (ET) in a game that was originally scheduled for Monday.
