DELAWARE, OHIO (Mar. 4, 2023) - The North Central College men's lacrosse team's late rally was not enough as they fell 13-12 to the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.

The last time these two teams met, the Battling Bishops defeated the Cardinals 11-10 in Ohio last season. The Bishops jumped out to an early two goal lead by Nick Rubino found Joey D'Cunha to cut the lead to one with 11:44 to go in the first. However, the Bishops would go on a three goal stretch to end their lead to four just two minutes later. Rylan McQueary started a three goal run for the Cardinals as  they cut the deficit to one. The Bishops extended their lead to two with 50 seconds left in the first quarter as Spencer Amacher finished off a Noah Citek pass. Jack Moran got the scoring started in the second quarter before Tom Eberhardt finished off a D'Cuhna pass to tie the game at six. Moran found the back of the net once again with 3:05 remaining in the half to give the Cardinals a 7-6 lead but after a Miles Rathell penalty, the Bishops found the back of the net with 15 seconds left to tie the game up seven.

Gavin Rieger got the Cardinals out infront early in the second half as he finished off a Rubino pass but the Bishops would go on a six goal run to end the third quarter and give them a 13-9 lead. Rubino kicked off the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal before Moran cut the deficit to three with 5:08 left to play. Eberhardt and Rubino would score two more goals to bring the score to 13-12 but after forcing a turnover, the Cardinals failed their last clear and the Bishops walked away with a 13-12 win.
