CCIW Release

Mar. 6, 2023 - For the second-straight week, North Central College men's volleyball setter Tyler Donovan has been awarded the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week. The CCIW announced its selections on Monday.

North Central is now 12-3, 3-0 CCIW on the year after claiming two CCIW victories last week as the Cardinals took down Illinois Wesleyan University 3-1 on Wednesday before battling Loras College 3-2 on Saturday. 

Donovan averaged 10.22 assists per set for a total of 92 assists on the week. 52 of those assists came in the match against Loras to achieve his career high and rank fourth in program history for assists in a single match. As a team, the Cardinals had a .307 hitting percentage with 13.0 kills per set. Donovan also matched his career high of four blocks in each of this week's contests. 

The junior setter leads the CCIW with his assists per set average (10.21) and ranks third nationally. 

After a week on the road, the Cardinals return to Gregory Arena on Saturday, March 11 for a conference rivalry match with the Carthage College Firebirds. The match is set for 3 p.m.
