NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Apr. 1, 2023) - Battling blustering winds and an inconsistent rainfall, the North Central College women's lacrosse team was handed their seventh loss of the season as they fell 16-4 to UW-River Falls on Saturday afternoon at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. 

The Falcons (5-4) found the back of the net early but the Cardinals tied the game at one as Abby MacKenzie netted the equalizer with 10:12 remaining in the first quarter. The Falcons responded with four unanswered goals to extend their lead to  four with 3:33 remaining but with  16 seconds left in the first quarter, Tanya Czosek snuck her shot past the Falcons goalkeeper to cut the deficit to three. 

The Falcons dominated the second quarter, scoring four more unanswered goals to extend their lead to 9-2 heading into halftime. They would widen their lead to ten as they kicked off the half with another three goal run but Czosek would find the back of the net for the second time , cutting the deficit to nine with 6:02 remaining in the third quarter. 

UW-River Falls gave themselves a comfortable 16-3 lead with 2:13 remaining after another four goal stretch but with time winding down, MacKenzie sprinted the length of the field and netted her second goal of the game. 

MacKenzie and Czosek each tallied two goals for the Cardinals. Belle LaRocco made 6 saves in the contest as she fell to 3-7 on the season. Raygn Jordan and Tori Leonard each caused two turnovers while Julia Clarke and Reese McMullen each scooped up four ground balls. 

The Cardinals wrap up non-conference play as they travel to Notre Dame, Ind. to take on Saint Mary's College on Tuesday, April 4 at 6 pm.
