North Central (24-3) continues its dream season after dethroning two-time defending national champion, Carthage College (18-8) in Saturday's regional championship match over four sets to claim the regional title and advance to the national semifinals for the first time in program history on April 28.Â
Jared Moser earns his second All-America honor and his first first team selection after being named to second team as a first-year in 2020 and earning honorable mention last season. The senior outside hitter has earned recognition as this season's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year as well as the AVCA All-West Region Player of the Year after his versatility has helped his team to an undefeated CCIW record and a sweep of the regular season and CCIW Tournament titles. Tyler Donovan steps into his role as starting setter as a junior and has quickly dominated in his position earning his first All-America honor with a first team selection. Donovan has led Division III all season with his assists per set average (10.43), and with his 55 assists in Friday's match against Benedictine, Donovan holds the second-highest assists in a single match in Cardinal history. His 970 assists this season broke the record for single-season assists and his 1,091 career assists ranks fourth all-time.Â
Jeremy Cardenas earns his second All-America honor with a second team selection after making first team in 2022. The senior middle blocker ranks among the nation's best in blocks per set (1.100) and hitting percentages (0.436). Cardenas has been a force for North Central's historical season and even scored the match-winning kill over Carthage on Saturday that brought home the Cardinals' first-ever NCAA regional title. Cardenas holds the program records in single-season (99) and career (249) blocks and has the best hitting percentage in Cardinal history (0.413).Â
