LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Apr. 26, 2023) - The North Central College softball team was turned away in both ends of Wednesday's non-conference double header at Lake Forest College, as the Foresters came from behind for a 5-3 win in the opener before closing out the nightcap, 7-3.

The Cardinals (8-23) owned a 3-1 advantage after four innings in the first game. Talia Torosian singled to drive in Charlotte Toosley in the third inning, and Allison Lambert led off the fourth inning with a home run to left field to put the visitors ahead, 2-1. The round-tripper is Lambert's first at the collegiate level.

Lauren Bowmar stepped to the plate after Lambert and reached on a single, then eventually scored on Toosley's two-out single. In the sixth, the Foresters (19-12) scored four runs on four hits to pull in front for good.

Torosian went 3 for 4 in the opener while Lambert and Toosley each finished 2 for 3. Pitcher Sam Schilf allowed three earned runs on eight hits in six innings, striking out three and walking two.

Lake Forest scored runs in each of the first five innings of the second game to overwhelm the Cardinals, who got a solo home run from Bowmar in the second inning and a two-run double from Toosley in the fifth. Bowmar went 2 for 3 in the nightcap.

North Central closes the season Thursday with a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) twin bill at Illinois Wesleyan University (18-11). Play at Inspiration Field has been moved up to a 1:00 p.m. start.
