NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Apr. 29, 2023) - The North Central College women's lacrosse team wrapped up their 2023 campaign on Saturday afternoon as they fell to No. 17 University of Chicago 24-1 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. 

The Maroons (14-2, 6-0 CCIW) kicked off the scoring right away as Skylar Lienhardt found the back of the net just 45 seconds into the contest. UChicago would score eleven more unanswered goals to give them a 12-0 lead after the first quarter of play. The Maroons scored four more unanswered goals in the second quarter to head into halftime with a 16-0 lead. 

The second half started with three more goals for the Maroons but after a foul on Chicago, Ellie Gosselin was awarded a free position shot. Gosselin would net her fifth goal of the season to bring the score to 19-1 in favor of the Maroons. UChicago would score five more goals to close out a 24-1 win. 

The Cardinals finish their season with a 5-12 record while posting a 2-4 record in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play.
