July 5, 2023 - North Central College student-athletes and sports information graphic designers, Olivia Hurt '23 and Austin Scott '25, have been honored by College Sports Communicators in their annual design contest for custom gameday graphics they created to promote Cardinal athletics.
 
"We have been beyond blessed to have students here at North Central College who are capable of setting a standard for graphic design to which professional staffs around the country aspire," said North Central sports information director Clark Teuscher. "We're tremendously proud of Olivia, Austin and our entire student staff for how they have enriched and amplified our efforts to promote the institution through athletics."
 
Hurt created the women's track & field graphic on the left that features the team heading to the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships. Scott made the graphic on the right for the men's volleyball senior day match against North Park University.
 
Hurt, who graduated in the spring, recently took a job as a graphic designer for the U.S. Soccer Federation, which is headquartered in Chicago. This role is responsible for bringing U.S. Soccer's brand to life through visual storytelling and graphic design. Scott returns to North Central as a junior and will continue to play men's volleyball and do graphic design work for sports information.
 
"We have seen many of our student assistants advance into careers in sports, from park districts to major professional leagues," Teuscher said. "Regardless of their career direction, students are able to learn communication skills which transfer into most any industry. We are proud to provide this level of supplemental education and we continue to marvel at what these students do with it."
 
The sports information department at North Central creates all of the content for the athletic department's social media accounts in-house, with most of the designs coming from undergraduate students.
