BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Sept. 13, 2023) - Playing on the road for the first time this season, the North Central College women's tennis team was unphased by the trip as they trounced Illinois Wesleyan University, 9-0 to stay unbeaten on the season.

Abigail Penados and Natalie Bassett made quick work of the Titan No. 1 doubles tandem with an 8-1 victory. Kayla McSweeney and Nina Patience cruised to an 8-2 victory at No. 3 before Kensington Payne and Anastasia Bozovic earned an 8-3 win in the No. 2 fixture.

Payne captured the first win in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles. Clinching the match was Kate Herlihy with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 4 position. Penados, Mikayla Edquiban, Bozovic, and McSweeney all won in straight sets over the Titans to secure the 9-0 sweep.

The Cardinals take a break from team competition as a select number of Cardinals will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament, beginning on Sept. 22. The three-day event is hosted by Washington University in St. Louis at Tao Tennis Center.
