CCIW Week 2 Student-Athletes of the Week

Sept. 18, 2023 - North Central College quarterback Luke Lehnen has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for games played Sept. 16, becoming the first Cardinal to be so honored this season. The CCIW announced this week's selections Monday.

Lehnen was selected on the strength of his performance in Saturday's 70-0 victory over Carthage College at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Lehnen led the Cardinals down the field for touchdowns on seven of eight possessions before leaving the game, completing 10 of 12 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns while also running for 31 yards and a score. North Central gained 431 of its 647 total offensive yards in the first half as it recorded its most lopsided victory over the Firebirds in 68 all-time meetings.

Through two games this season, Lehnen has completed 25 of 33 passes (75.8 percent) for 420 yards and nine touchdowns and no interceptions. A Second Team All-CCIW selection a season ago, Lehnen leads all quarterbacks in college football in passing efficiency (272.7) this season and is the current all-divisions career leader in passing efficiency as well (195.2).
