Cardinals Blast Past Stars In 6-0 Rout

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 6, 2023) – The North Central College women's soccer team traveled back to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium to face off with the Dominican Stars for their first home matchup of the 2023 season.

Coming into the matchup with equal records of 1-1 with a 2-0 loss to the Carleton Knights, the Cardinals looked to get going early on offense. Just 17 minutes into the endeavor Sarah Andrey would score her second goal of the season after sneaking a shot past the goalie with an assist from Yazmin Martinez.

The Cardinals would continue to assault the Stars defense culminating in Jordan Lange's first goal of the season taking the score 2-0 with 18 minutes left in the first half. North Central would hammer the goal in the first half with 8 shots on target with six saves from the Stars goal keeper Faith Richards.

The Cardinals would continue to pepper the Stars defense with another goal from Sarah Andrey marking her second goal of the game and season just 9 minutes into the second half assisted by Katie Huey. But, the Cardinals were not finished yet as just 60 seconds later Elle Sutter would fire off another goal with help from Kaitlyn Cannon to roll the score to 4-0.

The Stars would not get a chance to breath as Sarah Andrey would connect again for her third goal of the game and season with a connecting effort from Yazmin Martinez and Elle Sutter. The Cardinals would get another opportunity to score in the 79th minute when Sophia Hein would record her first goal of the season with an assist by Erin Jaskierski.

With North Central taking a comfortable 6-0 lead they would continue their groove on offense holding possession for 62% of regulation. While Jordan Boyd and Harper Larsen would pool together 2 saves with Larsen getting her first of the year to seal the score at 6-0.

The Cardinals travel to the west coast to face Linfield University in McMinnville, Oregon. Kick-off is set for 4 PM Pacific Time.
