No. 1 North Central Takes No. 15 UW-Stevens Point Down

Jan. 23, 2024 - The North Central College women's wrestling program continues to do what they do best, defeat every team that stands in their way. Last night, the Cardinals conquered No.15 University of Wisconsin Stevens Point 33-9 in Stevens Point, Wis.
 
No. 4 Maddie Avila (101 class) opened up the dual by taking down Kelly Enriquez with a pin. In the 109-pound weight class, Angelina Graff defeated Alexis Winecke by a 6-0 decision. Then, No. 10 Janessa George (116 class) added another point to the team score with a 9-3 decision over Abby Nelson.
 
In the 123 match-up, the Pointers were able to gain a little momentum as Dakota Drew fell to Makenna Hanke by a technical fall (11-0). The 130 class featured a nail-biting contest between Emma Grimm and Ngao Shoua Whitethorn. Ultimately, Grimm fell to Whitethorn by a 6-6 decision (criteria).
 
The Cardinals put an end to the Pointer run starting at the 136-pound weight class. No. 7 Taylor Graveman took down Amor Tuttle with a 10-8 decision. No. 9 Kendall Bostelman (143) followed up with a commanding 10-0 technical fall.
 
Tiera Jimerson (No. 3) controlled the 155-class match by pinning Claire Matthews. In the 170-pound weight class, Fiona McConnell picked up her fourth win of the season by taking down Taylor Schulz with a 10-0 technical fall. No.1 Brittyn Corbishley, remains perfect this season, by closing out the dual with a pin over Riley Ensuing.

North Central competes at the second annual College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship at 2 pm Jan. 28, hosted by Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
