Cedar Falls, Iowa (Jan 5, 2024) - The North Central College men's wrestling team is competing in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Cardinals are ranked No. 4 in Duals and defeated Dubuque University and No. 5 Baldwin and Wallace University. Â
In the first round the Cardinals defeated Dubuque 25-15. Robert Precin started the scoring for the Cardinals in the 133-match as he won with a fall in two minutes and 55 seconds. Joshua Robinson in the 141-match won by a 7-4 decision. Caleb Magruder also won in a 6-1 decision for the 149-match. Javen Estrada, who is No 2 in the 157-weight class, toppled his opponent winning with a fall in 2:45. Casey Aikman in the 174 matchup defeated his opponent in a 10-6 decision. Cole Cervantes put the finishing touches on the victory through a 15-2 major decision in the 184 match. Â
In the second round the Cardinals took control over Baldwin and Wallace and never relinquished control as they won 9 of the 10 matches. No. 2 ranked Christian Guzman in the 125-weight class started the match off with a 4-2 decision victory. Percin made a second appearance for the day and took care of business again with a 9-1 major decision in the 133-weight class. No. 7 ranked Bradley Rosen won the 141 matchup with a 6-3 sudden victory. Kenny Siwicki triumphed over his opponent in a 5-0 decision. No. 8 Alex Villar in the 165-class defeated Thomas West in a 5-2 decision. Payton Geigner for the 174 matchup won in a 5-2 sudden victory. Cervantes in the 184 match once again won his match won, this time with a 19-4 technical fall. Robby Bates won with a fall in 4:55 in the 285 match. Â
The North Central College men's wrestling team will be back in action tomorrow as they continue to compete in the NWCA National Duals and take on the current ranked No. 1 team, Augsburg University at 11 am.
